The 1st International Workshop on Wireless
Software Engineering
(WSE-2003) 8
November 2003, Algarve, Portugal Call for Papers held
in connection with IADIS
International Conference WWW/Internet 2003 (http://www.iadis.org/icwi2003) Workshop Chair: Luminita Vasiu, Middlesex
University, London, UK Scope: Wireless
information technology is an emerging field that builds on radio
engineering, distributed systems and data management. Wireless networks
suffer from lowbandwidth, and handheld devices have constrained computing
environments. They tend to have less memory, less powerful CPUs, different
input devices, and smaller displays. These new requirements make developing
wireless software hard and challenging. Software
development methods and processes required to build software for
conventional systems are not optimal for all wireless systems. In
particular, the development of wireless software does not always fit into
the development model originated to cope with large, conventional software
systems. Theme and Goals: The
theme of the workshop is wireless software construction. There are many
challenges involved in wireless software design and construction, including:
architecture, tools, testing, and the use of UML in wireless software
analysis and design. The goal of this workshop is to identify the challenges as well as to discuss and document the OO techniques for building wireless software systems. The aim is to provide a forum for stimulating discussion between the participants. Topics of Interest: Topics
may include, but need not be limited to, the following:
Workshop Format: The workshop will be divided into four technical sessions covering different aspects of the key workshop objectives. Each session will include presentations of submitted papers and/or by invited speakers, and there will be time for discussion after each presentation. Types of Submissions: The workshop will be composed
of the following kinds of contributions: Full
Papers
– These include mainly accomplished research results and have 8 pages at
the maximum (5,000 words). Short
Papers
– These are mostly composed of work in progress reports or fresh
developments and have 4 pages at maximum (2,500 words). Posters/demonstrations
–
These have one page at the maximum (625 words) besides the poster itself (or
demonstration) that will be exposed at the workshop. Papers
and posters should be submitted as an e-mail attachment in Word or RTF
format to Luminita Vasiu, Workshop Chair, by 25 May 2003 (see contact
information above). An
international program committee will review the proposals, and authors will
be notified of decisions by 16 June 2003. The deadline for submission of
papers to the printed workshop proceedings will be 27 June 2003. Important
